Why did you become a cosmetologist? Was it because you loved hair? Maybe you love working with people? Or maybe you just wanted a career you enjoyed that helped pay the bills? No matter what reason, we all have one thing in common, we want to be successful. Success requires commitment, dedication, hard work, and a plan on how to get there. Successful people make certain commitments to how they live their lives. These commitments become success habits that they use to guide their actions and beliefs.
This will be the biggest commitment you will ever make and it will bring about the greatest results. Be on time. Show up, start class, finish projects on time! Be prepared and expect the unexpected. Always have a backup plan.
Treat every person with dignity and respect. Help each other out. Be generous with your help, time and advice. Continue to learn and be consistent. Always reflect the best possible image.
Understand what your money is doing by creating a budget. Be responsible and pay bills and loans on time. Manage your credit card spending and don’t risk your credit just because you must have the latest new cell phone right now! Save a set amount of money from each paycheck, your future self will thank you!
Identify what you want in life and then identify the steps that it will take to get there. Put first things first. Ask yourself, “Is what I’m doing right now going to help me reach my goals?”. If the answer is no, it doesn’t mean you can’t do it, it just means that right now you are choosing not to pursue your goals. It is your choice to make.
Learn to think and act positively about all your interactions. When you think positively, you act positively and with that, you create success.
Have you ever had anyone tell you that you weren’t good enough or that your dreams were unrealistic? Want the good news? You don’t have to listen to them! Find people in your life who will support your dreams. Surround yourself with like-minded people who will contribute to your success and in turn, you can contribute to theirs!
Creating success habits isn’t hard, it just requires consistency and commitment. If you can start creating success habits today, you are well on your way to achieving your goals and dreams!
Educators, these success habits aren’t just for us, they would benefit your students as well. Be sure to share with them!
