Who doesn’t like the thrill and the excitement of playing Bingo and filling in the last square on their card, jumping up and shouting out “Bingo”? Keeping students engaged and excited while working in the student salon can be challenging. Sure, when students are busy everything is great! However, it’s an entirely different story when they have downtime or are close to graduating. This is when students often find themselves losing motivation, disconnecting, or, when problems start to arise.
Playing Bingo in the student salon is one sure way to keep your students motivated, even during those low points of the day. There is no limit to what you put on the card. Each square can represent a task or skill-set that the student must complete while working in the student salon. You decide the length of time students have to complete their Bingo card. It could be one day, two days or even a week. To keep things interesting, students can even work in teams or groups. The only limitation here is your imagination.
To help you create your own customized student salon Bingo cards, there are several free Bingo card generators available online that are easy to create and printable. Below are a few examples that can help you get started.
Simply give students a Bingo card at the beginning of the day and inform them of the timeline to play the game. Students should have an instructor initial each square as he/she completes it. The first student that gets a “Black Out” Bingo (all squares are initialed on the card) is the winner! Award the winner with a small prize.
