A few weeks ago, on our Milady Instructor Facebook group we asked members how they keep students busy during student salon down time. There were a number of great suggestions, but one in particular that I want to mention.
Kimberly Martinez-DeHerrera shared a Hair Monopoly form she uses to keep students engaged in the student salon.
She has a bag of colored stick or uses a color spin wheel and what ever color they pull they will choose one of the spaces in that color and the follow the directions on the square. You see in the middle that there is even a prize to work toward!
Great job Kimberly!
I wanted to share this idea with you first because it is a really cool way to have the students stay busy in when they have some down time. It keeps them engaged, they get to perform a variety of services and it is a lot better than say “go work on your state board procedures”. Nothing wrong with practicing for state board, but this just makes it a bit more fun.
The second reason I’m sharing this is because Monday, November 19th is National Play Monopoly day. It is the perfect day to test this out!
If you are looking for a way to play Monopoly as a review game, I’m going to refer you back to a blog I wrote last year.
At the bottom of the blog, you will see a button where you can “Download” directions on Monopoly Review. This one will take a bit of preparation, but I’ve done quite a bit of the work for you already, so get ready to pass go and collect M200!
