To provide a change of pace for your chapter review sessions, create a life-size board game to review the topic.
Step 1: Gather 25 sheets of paper (or more depending on the size of your classroom), add a question mark to each piece of paper, and then place them in sheet protectors. You will also need to purchase a set of large dice at the dollar store.
Step 2: Take 5 separate sheets of paper and add various action statements to each. See below for an example of the different types of statements you can use:
These are just a few examples. Be creative and come up with your own. You don’t want to do too many, remember this is a review game and we want students to have to answer questions to move around the board.
Step 3: Place the cards around your classroom in a path.
Step 4: Play the Game
Make sure each person on the team takes a turn answering the questions, however, allow them to get help from their team.
You can use this activity to review any topic. However, don’t use it every time or it will get boring and old to the students. Always change up the way you review your classes.
